We've spoken a lot about ID fraud and how it can affect anybody from any background, but this month has seen it taken to extremes with fake passports being used by alleged assasins in Israel.
Now I'm not saying this may happen to you, but it just goes to show what can happen in exteme circumstances when your ID is stolen and just how vulnerable our details are.
The British Government has spent years and millions of pounds on new technology to increase the security of our passports and yet still they can be copied and used by people around the world.
So ask yourself - when you update your passport, do you destroy the old one? I mean destroy it?
Many take a fairy relaxed attitude to our statements, documents and other paperwork and yet if we don't use shredders to get rid of important information, we could end up with our IDs being stolen and used in crime. OK, you'll eventually sort it out, but while the law enforcement agencies are working on your case, you could end up being unable to fly, no access to bank accounts and generally being treated as a criminal.
It's easy, just destroy everything fully using a
powerful paper shredder - no problems.
