Although the MPs have been given the summer off so they don't have to worry about all their expense claims, it looks like things are about to heat up again for those who were slap-dash with their paperwork!
At the beginning of the year the number of shredders being sold increased due to issues with data security, id fraud and the obvious problems of having information lying about that people could find and sell to the papers. This also coincided with an increase in the number of safes flying off the shelves - again, people are being more careful these days.
So what about those poor MPs? Well, it looks like Gordon Brown might be in the firing line this week and he may have to pay back those expenses.
Obviously you need to keep a paper trail for tax purposes and we wouldn't condone destroying 'evidence', but for that information that you don't want to enter the public domain, you should either lock it up or shred it.
