Risk of Identity theft varies across the UK

Back to articles

It’s a no-brainer that London is the UK’s identity theft capital; those living in Richmond, Wimbledon, Kensington and Chelsea are particularly targeted as those are the richest areas. If you in this metropolis, you are twice as likely to become a victim of ID theft.

Next, the ‘commuter towns’, i.e. St Albans, Guildford and Windsor are also highly targeted; along with Woking, Camberley, Maidenhead, Redhill, Bracknell, Bishops Stortford, Horsham and Bromley.

Outside of the London area, major cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Bristol, Cardiff, Aberdeen and Inverness have higher-than-average risks of identity theft.

To protect yourself from Identity theft, you should shred all unused documents containing your personal details with a shredder. TheShredderSupermarket.com has an extensive selection of shredders to suit every shredding need- ranging from shredders for everyday use, to those for confidential business informtion, and those for top secret information!

This is really useful information on paper shredders for the office. I have a personal shredder by my desk for sensative accounts information which i use a lot so now i'm looking for a heavy duty departmental shredder for the rest of the office to use.
